4th International Conference
Stabilizing the construction carpentry market
The 4th International “WINDOW DAY 2017” Conference was held on 22.03.2017. in Zagreb at Hotel Antunović congress center and successfully gathered 220 participants from 8 countries (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Italy, Germany, and Poland). Most of the participants were construction products manufacturers (profiles, windows and doors, glass, fittings, accessories, and mounting materials).
We are extremely pleased to note that this year we have witnessed a steady increase in the number of participants and interest to support this professional event.
We have to emphasize that we have noted the interest of architects and designers, as well as the growing number of media.
This conference is a kind of vocational regional conference whose main goal is to present innovative products, track market trends, improve production and how to embed products, keeping in mind the current legislation, properties and labeling of construction products.
It is conceived as an ideal platform for sharing industry experience, B2B meetings and direct contacts with current and potential clients, on-site questions and answers, and interactive participation of all present people.
It has been successfully organized for the fourth year in a row so that everyone interested in windows, doors, facades and civil engineering in general will receive new information and share experiences to improve products and businesses.
The organizer of the conference was Euroinspekt – drvokontrola d.o.o. in collaboration with the ift Rosenheim Institute from Germany, with the support of the Croatian Green Building Council, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the sponsorship of leading European profile, window and door, glass and accessories manufacturers. Those are: GEALAN, ALPHACAN, INOUTIC, REHAU, WÜRTH-HRVATSKA, LOKVE, SIKA, ALIPLAST, STAKLO PILETIĆ, PROFINE CROATIA, VEKA AG, ALUPLAST, ISO CHEMIE, ALUKÖNIGSTAHL, ROLOPLAST MOŠIĆ, časopis PROZORI i VRATA te HRVATSKI DRVNI KLASTER.
The topics of this year’s conference were the practical installation of a construction joinery with a presentation of the window assembly, the advantages of the installation of the building joinery according to the instructions and the manual made by ift Rosenheim, novelties in suspended facades and importance of IZO glass, practical experience and the current situation in Croatia related to the renovation and replacement of existing building joinery, up to new trends in construction, financing opportunities for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, current incentives, and projects and funds from EU funds for 2017.
We opened the conference with the welcoming speeches from the Euroinspekt – drvokontrola d.o.o. Director, mr. Sc. Mladen Komac and Representative of ift Rosenheim, Karin Lieb, B.Sc. ing.
We started the conference with an interesting lecture by our German partner, ift Rosenheim and Mrs. Karin Lieb, with the theme “Glass” as the main part of windows and facade facades, and a closely related topic about the parameters for calculating the thermal passage of windows. Then we invited Mrs. Snježana Turalija from the Croatian Green Construction to the booth and she told us about the trends in construction, as well as the costs and analysis of the life cycle of a construction product. After Mrs. Turalija, we welcomed Mr. Vladimir Bartaković from Sika, who brought us closer to the novelties in window sills. After that, we moved to the practical part of the window installation where our colleagues from ift Rosenheim Wolfgang Jehl and Andreas Lange explained and demonstrated how to install the window according to ift’s installation guidelines.
The afternoon of the Conference was based on the possibilities of co-financing EU entrepreneurship projects, then there was talk of incentives and funds. After our partners, Mr. Željko Šare of Alukoengstahl, Mr. Franjo Miheličić of Lokve and Branislav Jovanović of Roloplast Mošić, who talked about their innovations and trends on foreign markets, we concluded the conference with a panel discussion where we invited the distinguished Mr. Alexandar Terer from Profine Croatia who talked about the current situation of reconstruction of buildings and facilities, the issues facing manufacturers, the fisthand challenges. Then the discussion spread to both the participants and other lecturers and we can quite rightly say that we have opened some questions, clarified some ambiguities and reached concrete conclusions.
After all the day, we concluded with the interesting topics and active participation of the participants that we are witnessing the recovery of the construction sector in the Republic of Croatia. This recovery was generated by the synergy of various activities, from the increasing orientation of our producers towards export to the EU and other markets, the energy recovery of buildings and facades, the measures of the Environmental Protection Fund through incentives, the initiative of the Ministry of Construction, Croatian Green Construction, Initiative banks for reconstruction and development etc. When we consider all of these factors, the result is visible.
Given the number of conference participants, there is a growing interest in the proper way of installing the building joinery as a key factor in the functioning of the outer shell of the building. The Seven Golden Rules is an extremely convenient platform for the development of specialized windows installation and we expect the development of specific ways of installation due to special requirements on the product while respecting the energy-efficient and sustainable installation. Of course, monitoring the trends of foreign markets is inevitable as the constant development of new technologies and materials were applied to pvc, wood or aluminum.
By analyzing present participants, we came to the conclusion that the trend of interest for this kind of presentation is constant, with the slight increase of present designers and architects.
Through this, we thank all those who participated in supporting the organization of the 4th International WINDOW DAY 2017 Conference.
We thank the lecturers for the effort and time needed to prepare and maintain presentations that were a great source of information for conference participants.
Special thanks to sponsors who have recognized our conference as a platform for presenting their products and services and decided to support this year’s fourth year in a row.
